Diving deep into editing

Image
Guess who's back. Back again. That's right, it's me. And I am back with some stories to tell. I mean when do I not have stories to tell? So, I am in the thick of the editing process and I realized I have not had a blog highlighting exactly what I am doing. I have said before I am trying to give the conventions of horror to life. To be frank with you all it i s harder than it looks . I was originally going to use very little music, but I have now found that I am going to cut in and out. I wanted to use the forest's sound. Even walking myself when filming I was freaked out by the sounds I was hearing. What I am planning on doing is to have the music and then cut it when the sound of silence a nd bush give the fear factor I need. Sometimes less is more. I also purpo sely record ed just sounds of my location in order to give off these feelings. I had seen in other horror films that they used the power of sil ence to creep the audience out. Besides the sound,

The Music Delima

Hello my loyal listeners. I am back at it to let you know the whole dilemma with the music. I'll be honest with you all, at first, I was thinking music really. I did not take a lot of thought to it. I know, I know don’t critique me anymore than I have myself. As you all know throughout my blogs, I have been talking about my music journey. Not my music journey my decision to make. At first, I had no idea. I was stuck and I can’t even lie. Then I started to research I cannot have any copy written pieces. That narrowed the search down thank goodness. Then I was left with the finalists. Song X made me feel uneasy immediately. I struggled to find something that could compete with it. I think I might ask for some input from friends or family members. I did not want my audience to be constantly nervous. I wanted something that could be both very unsettling but in a subtle way. Song Y does this very well, it is just stuck between Song Z. I feel like they both have remarkably similar effe

Time for a Title Change

Image
Hello my loyal listeners! It's your favorite blogger back at it again. Let's talk about the editing process, shall we? I know I have mentioned befor e about editing before. What techniques I am trying to use to create a frighting atmosphere. This means I am trying to use the common elements of horror so constantly changing the pace of editing . The problem I am having currently is the titles. I have the placements exactly where I want them to be for all my shots. I also am having slight problems finding the fonts. Currently I am having trouble making it look like blood is dripping for one of the titles. I think I may have to abandon that idea all together. One of the fonts I will definitely be using is “ plunct ” it feels like something I have seen before in horror movies . I have noticed throughout editing and returning to other pre-production blogs that I have really used a lot of inspiration from my research videos. At first when doing them I knew I would do thi

Resolved the mistakes!

Image
Hello, my loyal listeners, I am back with some great news! As you all know, I dealt with some major troubles with reshoots. I said I would be reshooting on the weekend and luckily, I was able to. I have now been able to fix the mistakes that my p arents showed me. Thank goodness I asked for some feedback on my filming work. Without me asking my parents  to look over some of my shots I would have had a vastly different product. I also made sure to wear the same clothes that I wore for the characters I was playing. If I did not , I would have made a similar mistake again. I also was able to use the background to help determine where exactly I needed to film my shots. I looked over every shot before leaving the location. I even took more takes than I did last time just in case when I start editing if I do not like the shot, I originally wanted to use I have even more options to select from.   So, I can report to my loyal listeners I have now started to do the editing of the

Flooding cancels plans!

Image
Hello , my loyal listeners! I have some sad news . I went to film today after school and my location suffered some flooding due to rainfall. This was a problem because my location Ann e beck park takes a long time to stop flooding. The reason for this is because Anne beck park is right next to the intercoastal. This may be a problem because I won’t be able to start filming the retakes until the weekend now. I have been continu ing to edit what I have with title placements. Fixing my lighting in shots has been more difficult than I thought it would be. The editing is vastly different from other projects because I am now having a heavier load editing - wise. I honestly probably should have thought that through in pre -production phases but it's a little too late now. Although I may have wanted a partner for editing help I now get the benefit of strengthening my editing skills for later uses in life. This is something I would not have been able to do if I was in a group.

The Horrors of Filming Horror!

Image
I am back my loyal listeners! I know I have been away for such a long time. But I have great news I have been prying away slowly but surely at t h e final project for you listeners. You are wondering if the plan is going well . Funny you mention that! The plan was going splendid until I did some editing this weekend. I want to warn you all this is even the point of my peer review yet. I know I know what you are thinking but this is a blessing. As I was editing, I showed my parents the beginning which is almost done with being edited . They mentioned something that the middle scenes lighting is bad, and I am worried if I my editing platform Capcut will be able to fix it. Also, because I shot scenes on different days the time of night is different in the story so I may need to change and reshoot some scenes, so they mat ch up better. I am so glad they were able to catch this because it does not look professional at all. I am wondering if I can add some scenes or even see if

That's a wrap!

Hello, my loyal listeners and welcome to the first blog of the final task! Are you as excited as I am? Let's cut to the chase if you remember my planning blogs you be happy to know that everything is going to plan. Today I finished filming all the scenes! Not all at once but today was the last filming day. I do not think anything is wrong with them. I have not been able to look over them fully yet becaus e today was packed with film work, but I will when editing starts. I also made sure to take multiple shots for almost every scene just to be sure. Some shots I liked after the first take so that was extremely fortunate . For filming I was sadly not able to have my brother perform in any scene due to scheduling conflicts. He has a life guys and has many other important roles attending to him he is an actor after all . I mean did auditions/shows have to be this weekend?   Anyway , I was able to get help from my friend Jake because there was no way I could film myself just

Gameplan!

Image
Alright guys I am here to tell you the game plan. I know you are all on the edges of your seats wondering how I am going to attack my next big production. As you can see from my storyboard, I have an idea of what I w ant to come to life . I have gathered all the materials. I do have a costume for the evil twin to give off more of a terrifying feeling for the audience. Also, the prop I discussed was a fake knife, and I have not brought one in time, so I will film with a real knife not at the location, which means I will make a close-up of the weapon instead of it in a wider angled shot. Also, I will need to change shirts for the shots of the different characters. I know I am supposed to have an idea of song b but I have no clue I am really struggling. But I have no fear because I always succeed my loyal list ener s ! I will have to do some research for music that can be used for the project and what would suit my media product. I will probably narrow it down to a couple an
