Title Research (Run Lola Run)

Hello, my loyal listeners I am back and breaking down the titles of Run Lola Run by the use of artofthetitle.com. It is a 1998 thriller with a crazy opener. Now I have to answer these questions so bare with me but It will give you an idea of this amazing creative opener.

What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?

The titles displayed during the openings are first the movie title shot which is displayed by the use of ariel shot with a crowd shaping into the title. Then it cuts into an animation style of Lola running with credits of music production, producers, and directors. After giving credit to non-actors it then uses titles to credit which actors are playing which characters.

What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?

The first image prioritized in the opening sequence is a close-up tilting shot of a demonic clock. Then they prioritize the use of people first in crowds with the camera tracking and flying through the crowd. Then the main character is used in images again in animation in a chasing sequence and then the demon clock image returns showing a repetition in the opening. Finally, mugshot images are used to credit the characters.

How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?

First, the opening of the clock slowly tilting gives chilling vibes because it shows a terrifying demonic clock that gives a chilling atmosphere. Then it cuts to the tracking of the crowd which gives an uneasy vibe because you are never still in any moment. The feeling of never being in a peaceful moment makes the audience nervous and then in the animation chasing style the continued fear of what is going to happen continues. Also, the titles are not still and are always moving which repeats the constant movement that creates apprehension.
