Intro to Connor

As you could have guessed from reading the title, my name is Connor. I am in 11th grade at Fort Lauderdale High and let's just say Junior year is living up to the reputation. Now that I have given you my name and where to find me (great job Connor) let's get a bit serious and dive into who I am. Speaking of diving, every day after and sometimes before school I swim on my club team. I have been swimming since I was a baby and competitively since middle school. It is the one place where I can just stop and relax my brain from school. Swimming has given me so much it has strengthened my discipline and my health. I genuinely enjoy being in the water and pushing myself every day. When I am not in the water, I’m either studying for school or the SAT or at my second happy place, work. Yes, I said that right. Last year I applied for the Ecoexplorers internship at the Museum of Science and Discovery and boy did I have a blast. I was with many of my classmates, but I also made many friends from other schools throughout the internship. The internship strengthened my passion for fixing the problems that face Florida's ecosystems. Learning about the Aquifer and the threats that face it, which led me to discuss with our Mayor about the issue really made me realize what I want to do when I grow up, which is to save the world! No, obviously I don’t think that.... But I do want to study marine life and potentially write policy to fix so many of the issues that face my home state and America. Back to the present day, after learning about the Florida Environment and teaching guests about it throughout the year an opportunity came to me which was to come back and become a Lead. I immediately applied for the job and had a successful application. I now help my boss who now oversees 80 new Ecoexplorer employees with anything she needs and occasionally teach them about what I have learned about our wonderful Florida wildlife. You might be thinking is this kid real? Does he get a break? Of course, I do. I love to spend time with my family or friends, especially my best friend Jake who can make me laugh at any moment. I relax by watching plenty of Marvel, Star Wars, and DC movies and TV shows. FYI Ashoka, it’s a letdown and I stand by that. To recap I’m an athlete who loves his job and really, I mean really, loves just sitting down and watching some Sci-fi. That’s all for now but don’t worry there's still a lot more about me that I’ll touch upon throughout the year.
