Researching The Shining

Hello, my loyal listeners! I am back and analyzing a terrifying movie!

  1. Elements I am going to incorporate:

  2. Slow zooms and dissolves: The slow zooms and dissolves create a dreamlike quality in certain scenes, contributing to the film's surreal and psychological aspects. It makes viewers immediately captured and I want to recreate this in my own creation.

  3. Low-angle shots: Low-angle shots are employed to create a sense of dominance and power I'd want this for the hunter.

  4. Wide shots: Capture the vast and imposing setting. This gives the bigger picture and is more daunting.

  5. Elements I Liked:

  6. Symbolism and Ambiguity: "The Shining" incorporates symbolic elements and leaves certain narrative aspects open to interpretation. This can enhance the viewer's engagement and provoke deeper thought.

  7. Visual Storytelling: The film's visual and cinematographic choices contribute to the overall tension and atmosphere, making it an effective thriller.

  8. Elements I didn't like

  9. Tracking shots: I wish they were as steady and were faster pace I need a faster pace because of time to make the audience uncomfortable.

  10. Longer takes: This is to build tension slowly but I want to use more speed in my creation but this could change from watching later movies.

  11. Overhead shots: Overhead shots are used to provide a unique perspective on the characters and their surroundings I'd prefer POVs.

  12. Slow Pacing: Some people might find the pacing slow, especially during moments of extended tension. While this can build suspense, it may not appeal to those who prefer a faster-paced thriller.

  13. Ambiguity and Lack of Clarity: The film's deliberate ambiguity can be divisive. Some may appreciate the open-ended nature of certain elements, while others may prefer a more straightforward resolution.
